Whisper your thoughts in hallowed silence,
words longing to fly in the sun’s bright glare,
their purpose lurking, hidden in the shadows,
bereft of the open sky, their one last chance
to be the morning's ruse, obscured under dry leaves,
calm days of past longing and endless trials
of no more hope at a regretful end,
to the paths and the forest and the working man's lair.
I’ve seen them all in Summer’s lost gaze,
